Below you will find some whelping references listed by topic. We've selected authors that are both informative and clear in their presentation. In our view, the best way to get an overview of the whelping process is to read and consider multiple sources. Although there is some minor variation between breeds, the whelping story is generally the same. We have noted breed-specific entries where known.
Please note: In our experience, our customers are conscientious and responsible breeders that have sought the best for their litter-to-be and their breed. We strongly agree that "backyard" or accidental breeding is a problem. These video links show the miracle of birth. In some cases they may mislead the viewer into thinking that breeding is "fun" and whelping is simple. This is often not the case. For those inclined to breed, our suggestion is to become a true expert through study and mentor-ships. At EZwhelp we do not breed, and our personal pets are all rescued from shelters.
